"Our Architect Bill Campbell of Northpoint Design, Mark, Lynette, and the Crew were terrific to work with through all phases of the project. We had contemplated our project for a few years, and watched Mark build other homes over a few years. Work always seemed to progress quickly, which isn't always the case with other construction projects we've watched in Northern Michigan. Other Owners were happy with their building experiences; we had never built a home before, but we were able to build our home in less time than it took for friends to build an addition to their home downstate! Mark and his team gave good advice as decisions were required as the project progressed. His budget was accurate, and he was able to tell us where we could save (or spend) to get the most for our money. Mark Priest Builders subcontracts less work than most builders; in our case just the design, electrical, stone masonry at the front and fireplace, heating and plumbing. This makes for few delays and makes the project easier as we always knew where we were in the timeline, and who we needed to communicate with. He has all the necessary equipment to build quickly and efficiently. The site was always well maintained throughout, disturbing the minimum number of trees to keep the 'Up North in the Woods' feel." "He worked well with our subcontractors, and truly represented us and our best interests throughout the process. Marc Archambault from Northern Power Electric was tremendous, offered many excellent recommendations with regard to lighting, accessories, and function. Communication was excellent throughout. When the window company changed the color of the windows without telling us or him, he was able to arrange for the company to remanufacture the windows in the "old" color with only a 3 week delay, with no cost to us. We built the entire project on a handshake, and would do it again in a heartbeat. We love our new cottage!" |

We had contemplated building our dream home for some time. We were inspired to seriously look at taking on such a project after admiring the homes Mark had been building in the area. We met Mark over the Labor Day weekend just to get some idea of the feasibility of starting our own project. We were so impressed with Mark that we decided to take the next step. At Mark’s recommendation, we met with Bill Campbell of North Point Design who took our wishes and ideas and came up with a set of plans. On a handshake, we broke ground on November 1, and true to his word, Mark completed the project by the first of June. Throughout the process, Mark kept us informed of the construction progress and associated expenses to keep us on budget. He always looked for ways to reduce costs without compromising quality. He had all the equipment necessary to complete the job, only subcontracting the well, plumbing & heating, electrical and insulation. His exceptional crew demonstrated the same standards and work ethic as Mark himself. They were very skilled in all phases of the building process and worked quickly and efficiently. They were able to successfully resolve unexpected problems (which were very few). If we got stuck on a design or look we were after, either Mark or his crew came up with some creative ideas to achieve what we wanted. Having never built a home before, friends warned us about their terrible experiences and the nightmares we might encounter. This was definitely not the case. Mark not only made it easy, he also made it fun! It’s not often that you build a friendly relationship with a contractor, but we can sincerely say that we consider Mark and his wife, Lynette, our friends. If you are looking for quality, custom workmanship and materials at a fair price, Mark is without doubt the builder we would recommend. We love our new home…Mark Priest Builders made our dream come true. |
